Creating Gatherley Equestrian from derelict farm buildings has taken a lot of hard work. Take a look at how we’re transformed this old beef farm into a thriving equestrian yard.
The old Fold Yard
The farm buildings were crumbling, roof falling in and walls collapsing. There was a tree growing out of one of the old cow byres.
The roof had to come off and all the timbers needed replacing.
The Granary
The Granary still had Corn in it. There was also some old machinery
Roofing the buildings consumed, 3600 roof tiles. 1.5 Km of roof laths and 500 square meters of breathable membrane
Buildings
The farm sheds needed extensive work. most of the walls had to be rebuilt. some sheds needed new roof sheets also.
The Stables
The stables needed the old cow stalls removing, the walls repairing and new concrete floors putting in. new doors and windows and a lick of paint follows. then the internal partitions.
Some of the finished stables
All the mortar had to be hacked out of the stonework. Any loose stones or bricks needed taking out. This was a big clean up operation. Care need to be taken that the roof didn't cave in on anyone.
This was going to take some cleaning up.
Once cleaned out and with the roof off, the timbers were treated and we set to work re-roofing.
Some of the roof beams were made to measure
The doors and windows were also made to measure
Fabricating the partitions, all done on site.
The roof was made in the same style as the old roof.
